GENERAL INFORMATION
- was in jail for the year preceding his marriage to Mary O'Neill Coughlin who lived across from the prison. He was in jail for shooting a man in Phoenixville.
DEATH
According to his obituary, Thomas cerebral hermmorage was "probably caused by blows from the hands of Eugene Spriggs a colored youth of 18 years"
Subsequent article stated that Spriggs had stopped his threshing machine for water when he was accosted by Reddy “blowing the whistle of the boiler and doing other annoying things”. After a warning, Spriggs struck him with a fist. Spriggs left. Reddy never stood up and without any physical marks it was determined that he died of a heart attached from “excitement”

** found a Mary Ready who died at the age of 59 on 2/21/1897 on Phoenixville for a birth year of 1837/1838 from an online index of Chester County death at the Chester County Historical Society.
HUSBAND’s WILL:
In her husband’s will, Mary was bequeathed “all household goods, kitchen furniture, wearing apparel, etc that may be in the house at the time of my decease”.
She was to also receive annual interest from an estate trust; however, if the interest was insufficient, she would also receive an additional $100 annually until her youngest child Catherine was 6 years old.
On her death or remarriage, Mary would receive 1/3 of the estate and $200 each to be placed in trust for his daughter’s Sarah and Catherine with them receiving the full amount on the 21st birthday.
The balance of the estate was to out in trust for his sons John and Martin until their 25th birthday
